INDEPENDENT FOOTBALL TEAM ORGANIZED TO REPRESENT ROCK ISLAND |

September 5th 1912 - The Rock Island Independents re-organized last night at the Armory hall in Rock Island. The team will be managed by former high scnool star Joseph Smith. Smith plans on arranging games with both Moline independents teams and with other such teams as they can be lined up. Dick Liitt with four years of high school ball under his belt will coach the team. Jack Roche was elected captain of the squad. The team will be made up of players from independents teams of equal class and seven recently graduated high school football players. |

1912 Season - Independents go undefeated with 8 wins and 0 losses. Rock Island scored 212 points and didn't give up a single score. One of the finest season by any team at any level. |
