INDEPENDENTS ORGANIZE FOR 1913 SEASON

Coached by Dick Liitt the Independents were 6-0-1. Rock Island finally gave up a score for the first time in 2 seasons and were even held to a tie by the rival Moline Olympics.

 

 

CHAMPION ELEVEN WILL BE HONORED AT BANQUET AT THE ROCK ISLAND HOUSE

The team will meet at the Rock Island house for a banquet in the honor of the Illinois state champions. 25 will be present at the event Monday evening, 21 players and 4 sporting writers of this city. The team will celebrate receiving the Illinois state football title for the second year in a row. After the food and awards the team will discuss entering a team in the Winter basketball league.

The team elected "Jack" Roche manager and elected to keep Walter Flanigan as his assistant. Dick Liitt was also elected head coach again if he chooses to retain the position. Art Salzmann was also elected captain of team for 1914.
