TUESDAY NOV.24, 1914 Championship Talk - The Rock Island Independents have a chance to get some national recognition when they play the Evanston North Ends. The team from Evanston just played Detroit Heralds to a scoreless tie. The team from Detroit had claimed the championship of the Ohio-Michigan league. Chicago Press - Claims that the Illinois state title game will be held between the Joliet Steel works team and the Kewanee Regulars. Considering the Joliet team tied a weak Aurora team which the Independents handled, it would seem that Joliet’s claim would not hold up. Taylorville also is claiming the state title.
